what is difference in early and late eurobumpers?? (archive)

Early (pre-1980?) euro bumpers look different that later euro bumpers. The late ones are chrome wrap around which match the front. Early cars have the normal chrome front but the rear looks like a US bumper that is just pushed in.
Are they interchangable???? If you need a visual aid search the photogalleries here and type in "euro 635csi" then look at the pix of the 1979 euro and the 1985 euro
