Looks like these M6's are selling for more like 10 to 12K, so I would be cautious about the 8k offer. Not many people would sell for thousands under the going market, just because you're a great guy. But, if you're going to have to spend money on repairs, you have some room on the value of the M6 and the money is better spent there, than on the 79. Almost every post I have seen on an M6, regardless of how well the car was check out, involves spending almost half the purchase price in improvements and repairs in the first year. So, in actuality the M6 could cost 12,000, which is probably fair market value on the car.

If money is not a huge problem, I say get as much as you can for the 79 and go for the M-car. It could be a lot worse. You could be considering $90,000 for a new BMW
