Oil light question (archive)

About 2 months ago, when the car was parked on an incline, the oil light came on (the one where all the other lights are for brakes, lights,etc.). Even though the dipstick showed almost full, I added 1/2 quart of oil and drove it home with the light on. From reading the manual, it says that this is for volume of oil. Today, I was hot rodding about town and suddenly the light came on again. The oil pressure light did not come on and the temperature gauge read normal. The dipstick shows close to full....

How sensitive is this thing? Should I be concerned? And why doesn't it turn off unless I park the car for a while?

Thanks in advance,
Pedro
