red light in console turned on!!! (archive)

I have an '88 635 CSi and this light located right next to the fader control turns on whenever the ignition is in the third position or when the engine is running, driving etc. Is the car going to explode!!! I just want to know what to do to get that light off and if it's just an aftermarket feature added on to my car only, because it doesn't say anything about it in my manual. Please let me know so if I have a problem it doesn't continue to get worse! Thanks guys-Nick
