It might have and has not been charging since. Basically, I personally think that it is just the batteries in the light. Those lights notoriously go bad very quickly. I would try to fully drain the battery and then put it in the car and see if it charges. If not then I would say it is a problem with the wiring. If so, but the bulb is dim, then it is probably the flash light.

Thanks for the response Rob. If it were the case that I’m not getting enough juice to the charging pins do you think that the flashlight would ever have charged up as it did when it was new in January?
