How do you know you have a 3.07? That is the diff that came in a car with a CR gearbox. If your car has the CR, I wouldn't go anything more than a 3.25. If you want to see what speed you would turn at given RPM take a look at the technical pages on the m535i.org website under E28. E24 is still under construction.

225/50/16 all around. Thanks.

I have a 1984 Euro 635csi. The gear ratio is 3.07.(for the autobahn, I guess). My mechanic has suggested a 3.91:1 diff. Any comments on whether this is too aggressive? Any downside to such a large change? (I want the quicker top end speed, but I don't want to give up much in terms of drivability.) Would a switch to 3.73:1 be better. Also, what is the best source for a replacement diff? Thanks. Rob.

Whats your tire size? It makes all the differance.

Rob, I'mm running the same size tire with a Gertrag overdrive and I really like my 3.45s. I can get 24-24 mpg and the acceleration is good.
