Phil,

It all depends what kind of car you are putting the motor in. 230hp seems a little low for a "Stage II" motor." 275hp for a turbo motor running 20lbs boost is also rather weak, unless both motors are 4 cylinders.

An 87-89 US 3.5 puts out 211 hp, with a chip I'm sure it would meet or exceed the 230hp of the Stage II. You could always change the cam to a larger Euro cam w/ more lift and duration, put larger injectors, a HFM and custom burn a chip to your air/fuel requirements. This setup can gie you 300hp+, depending on what you want to do. It's not cheap, but also it won't have the added wear and tear on your engine like a turbo.

What is your opinion, stage II is 230 h.p.turbo motor with 7:1 pistons can make 20 lbs boost and 275 h.p.

I thought US E34 3.5's were 209hp stock... Chipped they were 222 hp.

Usally adding a cam (schrick 284 == 7-12+ hp, euro cam would be slightly less..) headers (3-5+ hp) etc might bring the 222 hp up to 240 or so...

Where does the other 50 hp come from?

Only the Metric Mechanic 4.0 liter engines were boasting close to 300hp in normally aspirated form for a M30 engine....

I believe the stage II Korman engine (for 230hp) is what they usally spec for a M30 weber sidedraft version....

Also a turbo engine running 20psi boost and 7:1 compression would be much closer to 375hp. My 3.0 liter runs 12psi for 300 hp.
