Might buy a 6er for the first time. Input needed (archive)

I never knew such a band of enthusiasts existed. There is an 82 633 parked down the street at a junk yard for sale and I can't stop looking at it, I love the styling, but I'm wondering what type of vehicle is it once its reached normal condition. They want 2500, its been out there parked for almost two years that I know of, the red interior is cracked, it wouldn't start but the flood here in Houston may have something to do with that, the water line was about 5 inches up the door from the bottom. Obviously, its a project, the guy said it runs fine, its an automatic, no power windows, seats, etc., no sunroof, white exterior, original rims. I have had project cars before, and love to tinker and love to drive a car that I love. Is this car worth it? I don't have a lot of extra cash right now so I can't get into a money-pit situation. Will appreciate all thoughts. Thanks
