You don't mention what type of 6 series vehicle you have. the transistor you are referring to, was pertinent to the 533i, 633i, and 733i, to cure a hestitation on start up in either cold or hot ambient temperature. BMW put out a technical bulletin on this matter and it is listed in the Big Coupe site. Apparently, when BMW set the motronic, the motronic did not register certain values, so BMW advised BMW dealerships via a techincal bulletin to insert in the Thermo time switch line a 560 ohm resister or I forget the other (250 ohm, I believe depeding on the year manufactured) to compensate for the incorrect programing to cure the hesitation. I don't have a scanner so I can send you the technical bulletin, but you can obtain more information in the Big Coupe site or get yourself the ALLDATA CDRom repair manual marketed by AutoZone for $19.99 and all the techincal bulletins are there. The newer 6 series cars did not have to have this resister, and had upgraded ignition and purge vale system. Parenthetically, hesitation can also be caused as a result of the purge valve system. BMW also put out a technical bulletin on this, as well.

I've noticed a bad hesitation problem that has almost had me whacked a couple of times. I know something about me needing a resistor on the coolant temp sensor. But i need more info on that. Please help!!
