Sounds like the SI board. This is the electronic board that controls all the gauges in the dash. The first things to go are the MPG (Miles per gallon), Temp. and fuel. Another cause may be that the batteries (two NiCad's that keep the memory for the Service Indicator (SI) lights) might have gone bad and leaked all over your SI board (I speak from experiance). You might want to buy the Bentley manuel before you do any work on it yourself. The ultimate fix is to buy a new SI board (~$200.00), but you may be able to fix/resolder the one you have now.
