I've got a set of Blizzaks mounted on steel rims. We haven't had much snow here in the northeast while I have owned the car, but they seem to provide plently of traction in the slick stuff. A buddy of mine in Michigan owned the car before me and said that the E28 with the Blizzaks were better in the snow that his Audi Quattro was (I'm not sure what rubber he had on his Audi). Although Michigan winters can be brutal (by Northeast standards), it is not Alaska. Good luck.
