: : : : Certainly. Given the fact that it is a 528e, it is an E28. There was no such model in the E34. The E34 equivalent (replacement) was the 525i. There is a difference, however, in that the later "e"'s had the "Super -eta" engine, which through a different control module and other minor adjustments put out a little more oomph and had a higher rev limit than the earlier cars.

So you're saying the 525i was like the 528e in that it didn't like high revving "fun-runs" as much or am I missing the boat? In looking for a car I kinda figured I did not want a 528e because of lesser performance and high end range. Looking toward E28 535i and 535is' can't wait to get some feedback!

Personally, I have never driven an E34 525i, but I understand it is *quite* the revver and very peppy. My impression of E34 M30's (535) is that they are a little faster than the E28's but lack a little of the soul.. More of a luxocruiser, if you ask me...

Thanks guys for all the info. I gues I was right all along, its a e28. In regards to power, I have heard if you chip them, they preform much better. Up to 24 hp more, and then a little better gas milage can be expected. The DINAN chip is supposed to be the best. Thinking about doing just that. Anybody had any experience with this modification? And, is there a noticable difference in the preformance?
