: I need some help. I was going to install a DINAN chip in my 1988 528e, but was told by a local 'enthusiast' that it would not improve my car that much because BMW did just that in the final year of the 528e series. Says they tweeked the engine to improve response and milage, and installing a chip wouldn't accomplish that much. Called DINAN and they said it would. Now I'm confused. Can anybody help with some info, or can someone who has done it let me know how much it did change the driving of the car.
: Thanks in advance:
Of course Dinan (why the caps?) said it would help you... they want to sell one to you and make a profit!! As for specifics I can't comment but I personally wouldn't go with a Dinan chip just because Jim C. makes better stuff. If the hp gain is 4hp (IMHO) it's not worth it. Just my $.02
