It gets quiet 'round here at 5AM. Oh well. I'm curious about how long you all worked and waited 'til your loneliness was cured with the purchase of your BMW. It's getting discouraging ya know...my aunt's '92 Accord EX sometimes creeps into my bored thoughts and dreams appearing somewhat attractive....oh the insanity!!! Or maybe a Miata...they look peppy and fun, they only have room for 2 but their tight quarters are an excuse to get close to a girl right?..they're definitely neat, and Rob's got one so that's cool...but they could never cruise at 110mph all day like a used 5er or 7er could.... well I guess since I'm up I should get something done....I'll going out of town to the beautiful High Point, North Carolina this weekend to visit friends so that will explain my lack of posts should there be any....that brings to mind the Blue Ridge Parkway..Has anyone here ever driven on it or made a trip out of driving it?...It's a very nice drive through some great scenery and landscapes with places to stop for pictures or an enjoyable picnic with a loved one... Another question that comes up as I pack my things for this weekend is who here uses a Citizens Band radio (CB radio for those who use them)?... I've not used them on the highway before to talk to truckers and stay aware of the law like Smokey did but I plan on it this trip it being Memorial Day and all... is there any certain channel I can bring in to talk or do I just hunt around?... Yeah there's nobody on the board tonight... Anyway, I have been talking non-stop about cars recently since I'm looking forward to my first car within the year and at first he was very hesitant to go for me buying a used BMW... when he grew up(first car he drove was a '49 Dodge) he figured you bought a car and kept it 'til you died as long as you took care of it... but the strange thing is he doesn't really take care of what he's got now...he takes care of them but doesn't keep them washed like they should be and that kinda thing...So as I learn things about BMWs I pass them on to him and he's starting to believe that a car's not totally shot after 150k and that buying a car from 1985 isn't necessarily a bad thing...I jokingly refer to him as the "King of the DoubleStandard"...while checking out used cars online one day we came across an early 80's Porsche 944, a car that is not at all new to me but that intrigued him.. . He liked it's looks but it's age really bothered him... you must consider that he currently owns a 1989 Ford Taurus GL and some kind of 1973 Ford LTD(contrary to popular belief were not any kind of limited make, it was just a Limited number of people that thought it was a nice car :P) that we inherited when my no-good Aunt died... I've been pushing for him to get an old Porsche but we don't have the money to just go out and buy a car...my idea was to sell both cars and find a 944 in good shape... He likes having the "Gray Ghost" as we've come to call the LTD as a back up in case the Taurus has problems and insists that Porsches are always having trouble and cost an arm and a leg to repair... now true repairs for any imported car can be higher than the Ford he's got now but any car that's in good shape can be easily maintained... back to my car -- Driving the Taurus is fun and the LTD is a neat change(tires were bald about 10 years ago, i think they're stock and we run it about every 3 days to keep it smooth, you get the idea) but after riding in my friend's '91 525i with 70k on the odometer I just loved it!! .. this weekend I'll be able to drive another guy's '76 530i so it will be a nice comparison, i look forward to driving the E12 which has no operating interior lights(maybe once in a while) by listening to the engine and judging speed by other cars... I think the tummy is yelling at me to eat so I'll continue my incoherent ranting a little later... I see Tony the Tiger in my near future if ya know what I mean.... cya later all [donning RayBanŠ Wayfarer shades and leaving]
...don't delete this i had some questions and it's good to get to the heart of a Bimmer(sheep) lover every once in a while. Hey, who put sheep in there?
