: Hey Rob (Or anyone else that may know),

: Got everything put on so far. Question is in relation to welding on the car. What, besides the battery, needs to be disconnected before I start to weld front bumper brackets onto the rails. I thought that I read something about the DME(?). Any guidance appreciated.

Hi,I drive a 1984 520i which was originally fitted factory with the US spec big bumpers which I personally think is ugly. So,I had it modified with the EURO bumpers and man,did it change the way my car looks. The rear bumpers fit in nicely with bolt but the front bumper needs to be welded in to the front rails.
I actually did the welding without any disconnection of the battery or DME or any other electrical components,no problems, but if you feel otherwise, disconnect the battery anyways. That's the most important thing if it involves outside electrical interferences.
Happy modifying.
