: : Well once again we are into the weather where we would like for our cars to look their best (this means summer in the midwest).

: : My bumper molding are definately aged, don't blame me I bought it this way. What products do people suggest to try and eliminate the course texture so that I can have smooth black bumper covers again? I've looked at bumper paint and a tire blackening product, but I'm sure someone here has tried (and hopefully succeeded!)

: : I know new covers would solve this, but if a $20 fix will save me $200, well it only makes sense!

Here's what I have found to have the best long-term effect:

: 1) Clean with "Spray Nine". Be careful not to spray the paint, this product will strip off wac. As soon as you spray it, you'll see brown-colored junk dripping off. This is the ground-in dirt, wax, and oxidized plastic. Make sure you rinse off thouroughly.

: 2) Use a product like Vinylex or Fomblin A to bring back the black and some gloss... both of these products leave a lot of gloss if you don't wipe them down. I prefer plenty of wiping to bring it back to the flat-black look.

: Dat's it! Re-apply the Vinylex or Fomblin A whenever the trim starts to look dry.

Rob, where can the products you describe be purchased?
