So, I've gone and taken the plunge - I bought a 1985 535i. I got it for a bargain ($4650 w/114,000 mi and an extra set of 16" rims & tires from an E24) largely because it has some cosmetic "issues".

The one that concerns me most is a crease inflicted by an Explorer on the front passenger door. My question is this: What does it take to replace the door panel, and should I find a whole new door or just the metal?

And on another cosmetic front, I need to replace the headliner cloth in the sunroof. Has anybody done this before and if so, can they shed some light on the ease/difficulty of doing this myself?

Thanks for any info.

P.S. I read this U.K. website often and find it very informative and a bit entertaining. The URL is http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/bmw.html. Enjoy!
