: This weekend I was accelerating hard in my 1984 533i(178k), when I had almost complete loss of power and then a stall. Pulled the car to the side of the road, and the car would not restart. I waited by the car for a while, and then restarted the car fine. The same problem happened a few miles down the road. Waited an hour and the car restarted. Finally after a couple stalls and restarts, I was able to drive the car for about thirty minutes through the country( no stopping ), as long as I did not accelerate hard. Just replaced the fuel filter and I still have the same problem. The manual is suggesting to check 02 sensor, air flow meter, and/or vaccum lines for leaks. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Well it turns out that the flywheel speed sensors(2 of them) had gone bad. The motor was getting no spark, due to the sensor malfuction. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Scott
