i am also getting ready to replace factory stereo and speakers with new cd player and upgraded speakers. I plan to run new speaker wire and mount an amp in the trunk or under rear seat. I feel that is the better route than trying to use factory. If you are staying with factory speakers and just want to (plug) the new units harnes into factory, check out Best Buy or www.crutchfield.com for an adapter harness so you can plug new stereo into factory speaker wiring. I think you would have a problem using factory amp with aftermarket stereo. Someone else may want to comment on that.

: I am looking at installing an aftermarket stereo head unit w/ cd controller in my '88 635CSi. Can I install an aftermarket amplifier in place of the factory amplifier? If so, can someone supply me with the wiring information as far as what color wires go where?
