: I recently posted a not about a jumpy temp gauge that could be briefly be brought to life by a good hand rap on the dash on top of the custer.
I had a jumpy temp gauge this weekend. Since I had replaced the nicads a few months back, I pulled the SI board out and found that one of my solders on the battery tabs had come loose. I resoldered the tab and the jumpy temp gauge went away. The fuel and temp gauge problems will mostly be related to dead nicads or a faulty SI board. I also removed the led light strip that lights up the colored lights for service and oil as I know when to service and change my oil.

: Several folks mentioned the SI board and the nicads.
: Since my SI board is not present (it was unplugged from the cluster and not replaced by a previous owner), I was wondering if the NiCads did anything beside storing the SI information? Are they actually involved in the other instrument functions (Temp/Fuel)?
: It seems like this is, indeed, a common problem!
