Yeah but a 17x8.5 will effectively subtract ~13mm from the offset of a 16x7.5 rim. Therefore a 22mm offset which works on a 16x7.5 doesn't translate to a 17x8.5: the rim on a 22m offset 17x8.5 would be 13mm closer to the fender and would no doubt cuase rubbing. I don't think there's any offset that works front and rear for 17x8.5. Probably the best way to deal with this is get an offset taht works for the rear (like 30-35mm) and add 15-20mm spacers up front. Alternatively run narrower 17's infront than back but that restricts rotation.

: I just did some e34 wheels (+22 mm offset) in a 16 x 7 1/2 with 225/50 and they fit perfect. Front and back with no rubbing or fender rolling necesary.
