Starting and stopping the engine like that isn't the best thing - the oil never gets hot enough to burn off condensation, and moving the oil through the motor just distributes it (and the water) to places where it really shouldn't be, like bearings. Also, very brief runs (known sometimes as the "carwash syndrome," as in moving the car to wash it and then back into the garage) are known to cause hard starting in some BMWs. That said, change the oil and drive the car for an hour of two - that should solve your problem.

After doing alot of research on this message board for
several months I can now post that I am a first time
BMW owner 1987 535is 95000 miles immaculate condition.
My question being besides how much I should put aside for
future repairs is this morning I put the key in turned
ignition didn't start, which is normal for the most part.
Then I did it again and the engine kept turning turning
turning and I turned the ignition off and the engine
kept firing. The car finally shut off and I was able to
just turn the key and it started as normal.
The car did sit for about 2 months only being started
driven outside the garage sat for 8 or 9 hours then started
again driven back inside to sit for the next day to start the process again. Aside from that everything else is great.
Your input and experience will be greatly appreciated.
