Hey folks. I'm visiting from the e36 M3 board. I used to have an '85 528e (put 167k miles on it!). e28's rule! Anyway, my brother just got a 528e with 145k on the clock. The only "problem" (for lack of a better word) I can remember on these cars was the timing belt. Doesn't the timing belt have to be changed every 60k miles? Is there anyway to tell when the belt was last changed? What is a good price for having the belt changed? Anything else he should keep an eye on? I tried to search the archives, but it wasn't working for some reason.

Thanks

If the last timing belt change date is unknown or doubtful, it should be done asap. The recommended interval is 60k miles or 4 years, whichever comes 1st.
