are the tierods and the idler arms part of the ateering?

I've read some posted regarding the steering box
could this be the culprit as well

Shimmys at 60 and 80MPH? Sounds like any one of your front suspension and steering components. New tie rods and idler arm are about $175 total. New lower control arms (lateral arms) are $80 each with bushings already pressed in. Thrust arms with Ultimate Garage 750iL bushings pressed in are about $150 each, I think.

Not too difficult for the shadetree mechanic. You'll need a big hammer, 22mm (for thrust arm bolt), 19mm, 17mm, blow-torch (for stuck balljoints), and your best friend, the Bentley manual.

The tie-rods and idler arm are the easiest and cheapest. After that, check your thrust arm bushings for cracks, etc. If they're the original style with gaps, then they're most likely toast. 750iL or urethane are your best options. New 535i thrust arm bushings will not last very long (about 30k miles). So why waste your time with them?

Good Luck
