I think it's the "fuel quality switch" which I would guess would affect fuel mixture & spark advance.

I have the Motronic out of my 83 528e to check solders,wiring, etc.(having a problem starting and engine will cut out during driving). There is a blue switch(I guess its a switch)with 3 positions. Anyone know what that switch is for?
