That's probably about normal for a decent running 535.

According to the OBC, I got it down to 11mpg during a few competitive events, and got it as high as 27.9mpg (average on a trip from Pittsburgh to Cleveland) cruise set at 65mph (no, I don't typically drive like that), and a light tailwind. Car was an '85 535i 5 spd w/165k, spoilers, Jim C chip, Sunoco 94 octane, SP8000 225/50/16 @44psi. Normal mixed driving was around 22mpg.

Just for anyone who is curious, here is what mileage I get in my 88 535is with 245k miles.
Pure city 15 mpg. Pure highway at 70mph, 27 mpg.
It has the JC chip and I use premium.

Last night we made a run from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe.
Started out at 300 feet elevation and the summit is over 7300 feet. We went for dinner and ran between 65 and 80 mph. The average for last night was 26.7 mpg.

Cheers
