Split Second - Chip - Hartge ? (archive)

I just purchased an 87 535is. It came with the following engine modifications: Hartge 5sp Kit (10.5:1 Pistons, Big Valve Ported Head, Euro Cam not the Hartge Cam), Stahl Headers, Raven Exhaust, and a Split Second system. The previous owner had tried a chip (Auto Authority) but the engine would ping when over 4,500 rpm, note: this is BEFORE he had the Split Second system installed. My Question is, would I be able to stop the pinging with the split second system? and what if any chip suggestions do you good people have?
