I have researched the auto to manual transition on a few websites, and i am definately going to do that. I made a promise to myself that I would never buy an auto anything again, but can ya blame me? the 535 is in *mint* cond. driven by a 70 year old man who pulled it out on the weekends..But again, I appreciate the response!

I'm afraid the automatic transmission problems are all too real, especially with the electronically controlled one found on the 535. I've read a bit about this subject and the general opinion seems to be that the transmission will get busted in a hurry if you rev the engine in park or neutral, and that generally they fail after about 125k-150k miles anyway. The 535is is an excellent car so you can always consider switching to a manual transmission when and if your auto fails. Check the link below to see how it is done.
