Its the rotors that are different. You "MUST" use the rotors designed for the 540 and not the rotors for the 750. Follow the link for information and installation as detailed by the originator of the Rob Levinson/Big Brake upgrade!

There was no e-23 750i, they used the 3.2 and 3.5 liter M-30 motors, and the 745i was turbocharged. Use the e-32 calipers and rotors from the 750i for the front upgrade, and either the e-34 540i or M-5 rear calipers and rotors. Everything bolts right up and is one of the best two or three upgrades you can do to the car.
