I own a 1983 528i (euro model) that was NOT federalized properly. I.e. all euro parts are intact. I purchased ALL the euro bumper parts from my local dealer for less than the quote to re-chrome my old parts. I have owned several E-28 vehicles and I can assure you that the euro bumpers WILL NOT bolt onto a U.S. version. The rear of the vehicle is completly different in the bumper mounting area, and the front is very different, also. I AM NOT saying it is impossible, But I would say it will be very difficult (especially on a freshly refinished vehicle.) I have purchased every single part new for this vehicle including all lenses, and a new bronze windshield from my dealer. no muss, no fuss. Hope this helps!
My son and I are rebuilding our '86 535 and we just got it back from the paint shop. Now the fun begins!!
Question for the group....How easy is it to change to Euro bumpers, front and back?? Any idea of cost and parts availability???
We looked at shortening the US bumpers today and moving them in is the easy part! The rework of all the black trim pieces looks like a bear!! Is the easiest way out going to the Euro style???
Can someone who did the conversion send me some pic's or point me to some to evaluate the change?

Thanks to the group in advance,

Tom and Nathan in PA

i just did the kit from bmp design,it looks great but it is fiberglass,so it does need some finishing touches before paint,if you order it make sure you get the directions!
