The 635CSi and E34 535i have the same engine as your car already - you wouldn't be gaining much HP therefore. However, go for the Dinan chips, K&N filter, and if you like, a turbo. Just remember, faster = hotter, so keep your cooling system in the loop for modification as well.

The 88/89 635CSi and the e34 actually have 218 hp. You could try a chip (they claim 208hp) or swap engines and electronics.

You could install a cam and headers and a chip to duplicate the B9 3.5 Alpina engine which produced 245hp. I had two B9 cars and they definately got some serious HP out of the non-forced induction M30 engine.
