I don't think there are any differences to the mounting hole dimensions but it's possible that there may be some distortion to the carrier which makes it difficult to install all 4 bolts at the same time. I had the same problem where I could thread 3 of them by hand but the 4th wouldn't line up. A trick that I found is to tighten down 3 of them and the 4th should then line up.

Is there any chance that a 3.25 LS from a 535 will NOT fit a 528e? Maybe it is me just being tired, but the first time I raised this thing up into the well, the holes didn't seem to line up. They're both side by side in the garage now, and I cannot measure any difference at all, and they look the same. Both have 1 218 411 on the side by the input, but the 3.25 has a 'c' after it, and the 2.93 has a 'b.' Dave.
