I have the opportunity to buy a 1999 528iT wagon
with reasonable features, has 28k miles, for
$35,000 (before negotiating, if any room). Also
comes with remainder of 48k warranty plus 100k
drivetrain/electrical warranty. This is a dealer
loaner car. Seems ok, only drove it for a few
minutes. First, is this a good price? Second, I
live in Portland, ME, and while we don't get a lot
of snow, I will be trading a 95 Subaru all wheel
drive(simply great in snow). The dealer has a set of almost brand new snows with wheels for $600 (from a trade). Just how do 528's perform in snow covered streets, going up snow covered hills, plowing through 6 inches of
unplowed streets, and overall handling. Any one
with input on price (and what to look out for) and
handling will be greatly appreciated. Dealer will
also sell me a brand new 2001 for 43k -- is 8k
discount worth it?
Ummmm...wait a minute.....lemmie park my 87 528e out back.......okay, let's see. The dealer wants to take 8k off a dealer loaner car. I remember when my local dealer used Nissan Sentras and I beat the livin' sh** out of them when I made the recurring mistake of taking my car there for service. Have you checked the other board for advice yet?
