yep, batteries are 1.2v and were fully charged. I never touched to CMOS chip so that shouldn't have done me in. It is only a few degrees above freezing out and I know that batteries dont like to work hard when it is cold. Could it be that I need more than a cheep, generic NiCd from radio shack? Thanks for the help.
