Just finished a 20 minute deal of putting tweeters on my door/mirror pads. My friend scored a pair of these in the junkyard but wouldn't give them up so I made my own. The wiring is there from BMW, all you have to do is go to Radio Shack and get a couple of the "cheap" 20.00 tweeters and drill three holes in each plastic cover and that is practically all there is to it. I just cut the tweeter wire to about a 6" pigtail, stripped back 1/2 inch and twisted the ends. Put the ends in the wiring plug holes, stuck a toothpick in there and broke it off for a press fit. Then I taped the wire to the plug so there would be no pressure on it and snapped the mirror pad cover back into place. Done. And the sound is much better than before.
I have the premium sound in my car so the back speakers have a tweeter and a driver in each speaker pod. These always sounded so much better than the fronts which have a driver in the footwell and that's it. Apparently the tweeter must have been an option and the wiring is already done for you.
The easiest 20.00 upgrade to a stereo I have ever done.
