Ocassional Stall when slowing down and clunk (archive)

I got an 86 528e that occasionally stalls when I come to a stop. I also get a rich mixture/emissions smell. I just got the car and I'm noticing alot of maintenance that wasn't done (ie original fuel filter still on, belts badly worn etc.). 156K miles. I'm thinking the o2 sensor. Any ideas? Also, when I back up I get a loud clunk if I accelerate. Auto tranny. Thanks in advance!

PS I've put new plugs and belts. I plan to order rotor, distributor cap, timimg belt and tensioner and o2 sensor.
Anyplace better than inparts online?
