i had the same problem on my 87 525e the area near the rear windscreen was rotten because the car had been in a accident my local bmw dealer wanted £1500.00GBP to repair it in the end i scrapped the car and bought a 1982 520i auto i have got a section of a manual which shows you where to cut out the rear end i will try and scan it and e-mail it to you.

Has anyone replaced the rear valence on the e28? The car in question is in great shape otherwise and I am trying to delay the inevitable.
I have used some POR-15 and Wurth's Hi-Build but it is really rusty back there. I imagine I would have to remove the rear bumper and cut out the whole rear panle to do it right.
Would this be cost prohibitive? Should I just continue to maintain it until it falls apart and then part it out?
Living near the beach and in New England doesn't help the situation....

Forgive my rust ignorance, but I have come from a long line of Audis where rust (perhaps only rust) was not a problem.

Regards,

Matt
