Don't spend another dime on that wonderful car until you do your homework. I don't doubt that you can spend the kind of money on your E28 (AND ANY OTHER CAR- DOMESTIC OR OTHERWISE) if you don't use these forums more wisely. ALWAYS use this resource to check for good mechanics, as we will all talk to you. NEVER accept a quote on a repair until you have checked around.

You say your car is expensive. The alternative is a 30 to 40K price tag, or a 300-400 Lease payment on new iron that will never have the character of your E28 (For 15-20 years anyway) and that will break as easily as your E28, long before the lease is up, or the title owned free and clear.

Your choice of an older BMW is still the best one you will ever make.
