If by "dried" pine sap you really mean baked on pine sap then the clearcoat and paint are probably already etched. I had used the Meguiars clay bar system with good luck to remove the tree sap from my car but it was obvious that the clearcoat had been eaten through. The clay bar removed ALL of the contaminants from the surface of my clearcoat/paint. It was neat to find out how much other crap was stuck to the surface of my car other than just the tree sap. Now I just have to pay extra special attention to a nickel sized spot on the roof that has no clearcoat. Give the clay bar system a try. It doesn't have to be Meguiars cause I'm sure they all work about the same. Might surprise ya! Make sure you wash and dry the car before you start and wax as soon as you are finished to seal in the results!Jeff Donaldson

Hi. I searched this board and could not find any suggestions for removal of *dried* pine sap from a BMW car. The car in question is an '88 528e, and I don't want to damage the clearcoat/paint. Thanks.
Owen
