Thanks for the advice.
My 83 528e is going on 300K and needs this and that....most items cost more than the car is worth...like air conditioning!

I'm just starting to look more seriously and I'm on a budget. I have seen some nice E28's and seen some nice E24's. I appreciate your advice regarding the transmission choice, with the exception of a brief period with an 850 Volvo Wagon, I've never had an automatic!

I'll let you know what I end up with.
