That kind of money should get you into a clean low-mileage (relatively, 100k to 150k) 535i. The newer the better, up to 1988. Automatic would be less than 5 speed, your preference here, but the automatic could be problematic in the near term unless recently rebuilt. Ask for & verify maintenance records/repair history.
