The car and probably the clutch have about 125K miles. My guess is that it is the clutch but seems funny to me that the slippage seemed to come on all of a sudden rather than the more gradual slip before it becomes undriveable that I've experienced before. Also, I perceived a subtle drive train vibration under acceleration generally in 1st or 2nd within the last 10 days or so that seemed odd too.

If it turns out to be the clutch is this a DIY'er type job or is it difficult and requiring special tools or know how. I think I did this before maybe 25 years ago on an Austin Healy....good thing I have a good memory, huh. Also do you recommend stock replacements????...........I see that you did some kind of upgrade or betterment...rationale?

To further complicate my life it seems that the starter is just about to crap out also.....lots of "zinging" on the first start and getting worse each day. Can I do this too??? I read that a couple of the bolts / nuts are hard to get to and not an easy job.

You're the guru what do you think??

P.S. Only my son (who drives this car) craves an M3........I'm content with the bimmer that I drive.

Jeff
