I think the Bav. auto salesperson you spoke to must think you have a 528e. 15" wheels are the way to go, On my 85 535i, there is no rubbing and the speedo did not change. I did not notice any speedo error. The 528e has 14" tires not a 535i. 15" wheels and tires are the right set up for a 535i if you want inexpensive replacements for those horrible TRX.

I just spoke with BavAuto and they recommend going down to 14" wheels... to make sure the speedo isn't off. Did you ever have any trouble with your 15s and the speedo-- or rubbing?
Brad,
If you want to spend alot less, you can buy my 15" rims for $400, And I'll throw in the brand new Avon tires that are mounted on them!
They are '92 525i rims.
Or you could do what I did. I just bought a set of 17" Motorsport replica wheels from DiscountTire.com for $680.

I just got an '87 535 and among other things, it needs tires. It has the TRXs which cost around $180 each to replace. Some of you have recommended getting some used rims. Does anyone know where I could get a set of used 16"? I just can't see paying that much for tires, knowing I'll have to do it again in 50k miles.
thanks,
