85 5351 auto tranny problem (archive)

I have just put in a rebuilt engine on this used 535i auto trans. I bought as a project car. In the morning it takes about 15 seconds toget into gear otherwise she runs good and shifts fine, could it be a filter problem?-------Thank's POE 85 535i-- 99k 86 528e----- 208k
