I have a 1986 535i with about 150k on the clock. This is our only car and thus we use it for long trips as well as local travel. I find that after about 4 hours in the car, no amount of seat adjusting relieves my sore back. Can anyone suggest pads/covers that would make the front seats more comfortable. Thanks.

There is a chain of stores in the usa called "the back shoppe"..they carry excellent small lumbar support pads that really work.
2nd option;I removed the original driver's seat from my '86 535i,and replaced it with a Recaro out of an e21 320is.This seat, unlike the BMW "sport seats, has twice the support of the original.,ad since most of the motors you use are in the frame, not the saet, only the backrest adjustment becomes manual.A decent sheepskin cover,or go whole hog and have thre Recaro covered to match the interior.

With a severly bad back from an auto accident,I found 11 hours of travel possible using the older real aftermarket Recaro from the e21 car,as opposed to 4/5 hours in the original seat.
