I just got new rear rotors and pads (Mintex) for my '87 528e. I got the old ones off no problem and am trying to install the new ones (the rotor went on fine), however I can't seem to get the pads in the caliper and back on the rotor. I removed the two caliper mounting bolts and removed the caliper/bracket assembly as one. The old pads, being almost completely worn, slid right out. I pushed the piston back into the caliper as far as it would go with a special spreader tool. I installed the inner pad into the piston and then wasn't able to fit the outer pad in. It seems like the pads are too thick (which they shouldn't be, but thats the best way to describe it). I also tried to remove the sliding caliper bracket and fasten that first with the outer pad and then tried to attach the caliper with the inner pad, but it just doesn't seem to fit.Could someone just describe the order in which they get assembled for me (ie, inner pad to piston, then to bracket, then outter pad, etc.), or maybe I'm missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you and Happy Holidays to all.
