The e28 and e34 are very different cars. I have owned two e34s but both were automatics so they certainly are were not as fun as an e28 535is. However, I bet an e34 535i or 530i or 540i are very fun to drive. Personally, I bought an e28 535is because I love its looks and attitude. The e34s are awesome touring cars and I always drove the e34 as opposed to my wife's 850 turbo wagon. As always, it is just a matter of what you want/need in a car. My 525iT is absolutely the slowest car I have ever owned. My 87 528e 5 speed was a rocket compared to the 525iT!!
