I disconnected the linkage and tried to push/pull the linkage into gear and then start the car to see if the transmission is working...nothing. I figured if I could get it to go into gear that way, maybe just the bushings were really worn out. Should I be able to put the car into gear just by moving the linkage in/and or out of the transmission?
