A 1983 320i BMW is forsale in our neighborhood. the sign sais it is an auto and runs but needs a Fuel Dist. Does anyone know how much that costs and how hard it is to replace. They are asking $500.00. any advice?

Thanks.

Figure about $200-250 for the fuel distributor and about another $60-100 to have the CO level set after it is installed. The physical installation is easy, but they ALWAYS need to be adjusted when they are installed. It would probably be a good idea to clean out the gas tanks, and replace the fuel filter before you put a new fuel distributor on, though. In general, if the car is not rusty, $500 is probably about what it's worth.
