Broken Glovebox Latch (archive)

Last night I tried to open the glovebox and I felt this "funny" feeling when you know you broke something! It sounds as there is something moving inside when I pull on it. I don't know if this is the same as the E30 I had which basically you had to remove some screws through the gap between the glovebox and the dash and then pulling/bending a metal part to open it.

Has someone BTDT?? What's the procedure to open it? I have a replacement inner lock mechanism from the glovebox I bought for my ex E30 and I hope it will work!

Thanks in advance!!
